What is the Oro Therapy Colour Mask?

The Oro Therapy Colour Mask is a pigmented, deep, conditioning mask which provides the hair with semi-permanent hair colour. Furthermore, you get the opportunity to try a different hair colour without the long-lasting effects of permanent, colour. They are also good for keeping coloured hair looking fresh. The masks are available to purchase in chocolate, copper, red, violet, lavender, pink, fuchsia, beige and anti-yellow.

How to Use the Mask

The Oro Therapy Colour Mask is extremely easy to use and doesn’t need to be applied by a hairdressing professional. All you will need to apply the mask is a comb and a pair of gloves. We recommend applying the mask onto freshly washed, towel-dried hair for the best results.

  • Firstly, you should section off your hair to make it easier to ensure that you cover all your hair with the mask.
  • For this next part, you will need to be wearing your gloves. You can, either pump the mask directly into your hands and apply it or, if you want more control over how much product you are using, you can pump it into a bowl. From the bowl, you would then apply it directly to your hair with a tinting brush.
  • Once you are happy that you have covered the areas you intend to colour, we would suggest setting a timer for the processing time.
  • Processing times vary depending on the intensity of the reflection desired. The recommended time is between 3-15 minutes. However, it is safe to be left on for up to 30 minutes.
  • After your required time is up make sure you rinse the mask out of your hair carefully.
  • Don’t worry if the water from your hair is the same colour as the mask you chose. That’s normal.
  • If you are using heat to style your hair remember to use a form of heat protection.

Can I Create a Custom Colour?

The answer is, yes, you can. You can create a custom colour by mixing the masks together or if, for example, you wanted pink hair but preferred a pastel pink you could use our Nutricare Mask mixed with the Oro Colour Therapy Pink Mask to dilute the colour until you get the desired tone.

We put this to the test on Chloe’s hair, our graphic designer, at Fanola HQ. She wanted the perfect pastel pink hue for her usually blonde hair. To create Chloe’s pastel perfection tone, we mixed Fuschia, Pink, and the Nutricare Mask together.

Ombre Effect

Another way you can be creative with our Oro Therapy Colour Masks is by producing an ombre effect. To achieve this look, you will need 3 different gradients of the mask. Your darkest gradient could be just the mask alone, and then your other two gradients will each be lighter than the other, by adding the Nutricare mask to them.

Colour Guide

  1. Take your most concentrated colour and apply that to the ends of your hair.
  2. Next, take the second less concentrated colour and apply that to the middle of your strands.
  3. Lastly, apply the lightest of the 3 colours to your root.

For a demonstration of this technique watch the video below.

Money Pieces

Money pieces and face-framing are huge trends in the hairdressing world at the moment, with the likes of Dua Lipa and Kylie Jenner showcasing the styles. Some people like to go bold with their money pieces by going for a colour which is completely different from their hair, for example, brunette with blonde money pieces is very popular. Others opt for a more subtle style which frames their facial features.

It is a style you can easily try out with the Oro Therapy Colour Masks. All you will need to do is put your hair into your parting and then section off the two front pieces of hair that you want your money pieces to be. Now that you have your two front pieces ready, you are ready to apply the mask.

How can I maintain my colour?

The Oro Therapy Colour Masks do only provide your hair with a temporary colour fix, but there are ways to try and prolong the colour if you love the results. Washing your hair will rinse the colour out of your locks, so washing your hair less will mean that the colour stays in longer, time to make dry shampoo your new best friend. If you feel like the colour, is starting to fade, you can always swap your conditioner to the mask to inject some colour back into it.
