Best Purple Shampoo

A blonde’s ultimate quest is to find the Best Purple Shampoo but never fear, Fanola is here! However, we don’t claim to be the best for no reason. Here’s our guide to ensure you are picking the best purple shampoo for all the right reasons.

Is Purple Shampoo For You?

The first, FIRST step to finding the best Purple Shampoo is deciding whether this shampoo is right for your hair needs. If your hair isn’t in need of blonde toning shampoo then it can actually do more damage than good. Let’s ask some questions to figure out if purple shampoo is best suited for you.

  • Are you a natural blonde who sometimes finds their hair dull? Yep, this is for you
  • Have you come fresh out of the salon with newly bleached, blonde coloured or lightened hair? This product is for you.
  • Do you hate having to go to the salon every 4 weeks to refresh your blonde? Hell yeah, this is for you.
  • Do you find yourself needing to fix discolouration in your blonde caused by heat exposure by styling tools, environmental factors or just general washing? Purple shampoo is 100% for you!

Pigmentation

Let’s start with the KEY to a purple shampoo. Pigmentation! The reason pigment matters in a blonde shampoo is because the colour purple cancels out the yellow tone, as shown on the colour wheel below.

Formulas that are more heavily pigmented provide better results at eliminating even the most stubborn of yellow tones. Other purple products on the market often come out opaque or a soft lavender colour which means their formulas aren’t as strong as they need to be to provide the best results. Fanola’s formula is a deep purple colour rich with pigmentation to ensure all yellow or brassy tones are demolished! In fact, the Fanola formula is so strong that it can often stain your shower and hands purple so be sure to wear gloves when using.

Hair Health

An important factor that a blonde needs to remember when purchasing a purple shampoo is how it affects your hair health! Purple shampoo can dry your hair out which can result in damage. This can happen if you are not using the right product or amount of product, also if you are over washing. We always suggest leaving our formula in your hair between 1-5 minutes using only once every 1-2 weeks. This is because our formula is so strong that’s all the time you need! You should also start at leaving purple shampoo in for 1 minutes and building your way up in time depending on how icy or ashy you want your hair. If you are unsure where to start, ask your hair professional for the best advice.

When finding a perfect purple shampoo you should be checking what ingredients are being used. Some silver shampoos on the market use acids and other toxic ingredients that can leave lasting damage. Fanola offers a Vegan Purple Shampoo that uses ingredients that wont strip your hair of moisture or leave your hair dry and damaged. The vegan option is sulphate free which is perfect to wash and tone your extension with! One of the main ingredients used heavily in Fanola’s formula’s is Baobab Oil. Its rich in vitamins that moisturises and promotes hair growth, keeping your blonde locks healthy and shiny.

    1. Hi Moira,

      Thanks for reaching out!

Our No Yellow Purple Shampoo would be recommended to tone out any unwanted yellow tones. Using this shampoo will result in a toned grey/purple colour, you could try using the shampoo mixed with our Nutricare shampoo to dilute the intensity. After seeing the colour result you can then change the solution to intensify if needed.

Alternatively you can use our Nutricare shampoo and conditioner as grey hair can be quite coarse and this will soften the hair cuticles to help tame hair.

However we always suggest seeking advice from your hair care professional! Hope this helps.

  2. I have approx 2 inches of grey the rest is salon blonde, my hair is long. I want to grow out the blonde, I used Fanola No Yellow just once left on for 7 minutes never noticed any difference with the blonde but found the grey is purple how do I stop this happening and how often can I use the shampoo?

    1. Hi Marianne,

Its recommended to use once a week to maintain the perfect blonde. If you feel the pigments are to strong in your hair discontinue use and use a clarifying shampoo to cleanse them out and then proceed with use as directed above.

      kindest regards
      Fanola
