What Are Hair Toners?

Hair toners can either be a demi or semi-permanent hair dye and contain pigments which adjust the tone of the hair. It works to emphasize certain tones and eliminate unwanted tones. They can make the hair warmer or cooler. Toners are part of the hair colouring process and provide you with the finished colour. However, it is important to remember that they aren’t permanent as they contain very little ammonia. Therefore, they do only last up to 6 weeks.

How to Maintain Toner at Home

Although toners aren’t permanent, you can offer your clients treatments and aftercare advice to take home with them. For example, the Fanola After Colour range is perfect for maintaining salon-fresh colour due to the product’s oxidising action. It preserves colour intensity and shine. Other products that are ideal for maintaining the tone of the hair are colour-depositing pigment shampoos, for instance, the No Yellow Shampoo and No Orange Shampoo. The Fanola No Yellow Shampoo banishes annoying yellow tones from the hair and makes blonde brighter and shinier. Whereas the Fanola No Orange Shampoo neutralises undesired copper and red reflections.
